Re: Are Single-Sex Classrooms better for kids?

Parents and educators have debated single-sex education for years, and the number of schools offering single gender classes has grown. But some researchers argue there is no evidence that boys and girls learn differently — and that gender separation can perpetuate sexist stereotypes.

In my opinion single-sex classrooms aren't that bad. Sure, kids need to develop their communication skills with the opposite sex but not everyone learns the same way. Being in a single-sex classroom gives the girls more opportunities to sometimes speak out their opinions instead of getting "drowned" by the boys by yelling out their answers. It also gives the boys the chance to focus more on their studies instead of checking out girls and what not.

But being in a single-sex classroom also has its down side. They might learn all the stereotypes people will be talking about; like how girls are supposed to play with barbies and guys should be playing with cars. But if they're in coed classrooms they will learn how to work together and will help them once they grow up and becomes independent.

Overall both of these types of classrooms have their Pros and Cons, it's just  a matter of opinion on whether what kind of classroom you'd like to be in, and what classroom works for you best.

Creatve Commons

Hello! In our class in ELO we are currently studying about creative commons. Creative Commons means "some rights reserved". It offers the owner's ability to use their works for commercial purposes, or not; to make derivative works, or not; To share alike, or not. It is, in short, a way of fine-tuning your copyright.

Here are some examples of creative commons licenses. My theme that I decided on was "Love".

Kinds of Blogs

Hello! Today I was looking through a bunch of blogs and found 3 different kinds of blogs.

The 1st one I would like to show you are 2 kind different blogs that was made to entertain.

The blogs are:
I think these blogs are made to entertain because it created different kinds of emotions while I was reading through it. The one thing that really sticked out to my mind while scanning throught these websites is the one about Beyonce being pregnant. I remember feeling really shocked when I found out that Beyonce was pregnant. Therefore I think that these blogs are supposed to entertain the readers.

The 2nd kind of blogs I would like to show you are the ones where they are made to inform us.

The blogs are:
These two blogs are made to inform. I think that these blogs are made to inform because they were telling information without trying to tell what their opinion is. Like for the weblog.greenpeace website they told the reader about the nuclear reaction like how they would say it in the news.

Finnaly the very last kind of blog I would like to share with you is the kind of blog where it is made to persuade the reader.

The blogs are:
I think that these two blogs are definitly blogs made to persuade. An example is that the website michaelmoore was definitely giving his own prespective of things and was persuading us to think like him. Like the one where he "encourages" everyone he know to never travel to Georgia, and also to never do business in Georgia. Now if that doesn't say persuading someone then I guess I don't know what persuading means.

Thank you for reading my blog! If you don't agree with my review for those blogs, please feel free to leave a comment.
